And back in school, according to this schedule:
Anyway, now that I’ve finished both my first days of class, I can say with certainty…that this semester is going to be a mixed bag.
German is going to be fun. It is really funny listening to American ‘l’s.
Latin…will be OK. The class is full of people I don’t know. I just realized this is the first Classics language class I’ll be taking in Oberlin where I’m not with Ploy and Shoshana! This makes me sad. Everybody in the class is way too serious.
My ‘Computer Science for Humanities Students’ class, AKA ‘The Internet and Beyond’ (read: we teach you HTML and CSS, you go make a website) looks like it will be really useful, and not too hard. I could probably make a decent ISO website by the end of the semester, and I’d like to take CSCI 140 next semester so I have some marketable skills besides reading dead languages.
Honors…haha. Besides the fact that I’m still not quite clear on what my topic is, that should go along well. I have lots of reading to do, but now that Oberlin just bought the book that will probably be most helpful to my research, that shouldn’t be too bad.
My work schedule isn’t set yet, but I work at least 6 hours at the Reference Desk (3 of those from 7-10 PM, and three of those from 10-1 PM), and I will also be the grader for 100-level Greek. This is assuming that I remember any Greek. I hardly know my Latin anymore either.
As you can see, my life remains exciting. I’ve been in Oberlin for three months (I really don’t recommend staying here for breaks), and I can’t wait for fall break. In a month and a half.
Oh, I’ve forgotten to mention: I will probably be doing some swing dancing this semester.
